The Petrof Piano Trio hails from the Czech Republic and is unmatched in its interpretation of works by the Bohemian masters. Janác̆ek’s first string quartet, “Kreutzer Sonata”, arranged for the Trio by the leading Czech musicologist, Milos̆ S̆tĕdron̆at, is something not to be missed.
PETROF PIANOS TRIO was created in 2009 by Wihan Quartet violinist, Jan Schulmeister. The members are renowned chamber-music players, and togheter bring to the ensemble over thirty years expe¬rience of concert activity. In the same year as it was formed, the ensemble became the resident trio of the PET¬ROF Piano Company. The company, known for its long tradition and quality, immediately recognised that The Petrof Trio was an ensemble whose performances were at the highest level, and was keen to support it.
Since 2011 the ensemble has been resident trio at the International Music Course in Zábřeh na Moravě (the Czech Republic), where the members are also instructors. The Trio’s last two CDs release, containing trios by Bruch, Mendelssohn and Lalo (CD 1) and Beethoven, Tchaikovsky (CD 2), was released on NIMBUS ALLIANCE Record company. These recordings were positively praised by critics in Czech and foreign journals (Musical, The Strad, Classical music, MusicWeb International, etc.). The members of the trio are frequent guests on stage both home and abroad (Europe, Middle East).
